W. A. Tarr Award

The W. A. Tarr Award was first announced in March, 1949 and has been the annual award of the Society of Sigma Gamma Epsilon since that time.  W. A. Tarr was the Grand Editor of The Compass from May 1920 when the first issue was printed until the time of his death in 1939.  It was largely through his efforts that The Compass became a success.

We need a 3-4 week period to return the Tarr certificate to each chapter.  If your completed form is received by March 31, we should be able to get the certificate to you before the end of your school year.  We do accept Tarr nominees at any time, but if you return the form after April 15, note the date of your school's semester/quarter closing this spring.  It is imperative that the date of presentation is noted on the form.  If no date is indicated, we will pick one or use the postmark date on the card or envelope.

Only active chapters are eligible to present the W. A. Tarr Award, and if your chapter has yet to pay annual dues, you may remit them when returning the Tarr form.
